Willow Grove Church to Offer Course Equipping Parents to Pass on Their Faith

Willow Grove Presbyterian Church will offer a course, More Than Saying Grace at Dinner, on Sundays September 7, 14 and 21 following the 10 AM Worship Service,. Pastor Cynthia Cochran Carney and August Ruggiero will lead this course designed to equip adults, parents and grandparents with approaches to encourage the children, teenagers and grown children in their lives to grow in their Christian faith at home.

Children’s Sunday school classes will also begin September 7th during the 10:00 AM worship service. There will be a celebration with refreshments following worship and before the adult forum.

The youngest Sunday school class will be Discovery Kingdom for ages 4 years old through 2nd grade. This class will continue to be a Rotation Curriculum with a video, computers, arts/crafts, cooking, games and music to help children learn important Bible stories.

There will be a new class, Bible Kingdom, for 3rd to 5th graders. This class will focus on learning how to use the Bible. Learning games will be included in the class. The children will be receiving their first Bibles on September 7th in worship.

The oldest class, Faith Kingdom, will continue for 6th through 12th graders. They will be studying themes in the Bible and how they relate to loving God and being a follower of Christ at home, at school, on the ball field, in the band, at the mall, and everywhere young people are.

The Willow Grove Youth Group for grades 6th through high school will meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM two times per month. The first gathering will be on September 7th at the Cochran-Carneys’ house and will include planning fall activities and service projects.

Willow Grove Presbyterian Church is located at 1961 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains, close to the corner of Martine Ave. and Raritan Road and across from the Southside Firehouse. All in the community are invited to each of the above events. Childcare will be provided both during the worship service and the adult forum.
